Industrial design for complex systems

Product design for robotics and automation

Robotic products combine moving assemblies, tools and people working nearby. KiTech develops their exterior form and covers with the engineering team, so the product has a clear identity and the design respects the system’s functional boundaries.

Discuss your robotics product

Start with the moving envelope

Before exploring form, establish the fixed interfaces, moving volumes, tool changes and required access. The engineering team defines these constraints. We use them to develop exterior alternatives that fit the available space rather than treating the cover as an isolated shell.

Covers, tools and the surrounding equipment

A gripper cover and an automated inspection machine have different design scales. At component level, the work centres on the visible form and the relationship to adjacent assemblies. At system level, proportions, panel divisions and colour bring multiple elements into a consistent product identity.

Work alongside your robotics team

The project starts by agreeing which parts of the product need design input and which technical decisions are already fixed. Concept alternatives are reviewed against those constraints before the selected direction is detailed. Robot programming, control systems, motion planning and safety certification are not implied by an industrial-design commission.

Relevant projects

Before we start

Do you design complete robots?

The work presented here focuses on industrial design, covers and external styling. Mechanical engineering beyond that scope is defined separately with the client and relevant specialists.

Can you design around an existing gripper?

Yes. Existing geometry, mounting interfaces and motion clearances form the starting brief. Proposed changes are reviewed with the team responsible for the mechanism.

What helps you assess a robotics project?

Share the type of equipment, development stage, intended user and the exterior components that need design. A model or photographs can follow under suitable confidentiality arrangements.
